Video Dream Theater - A Dramatic Turn of Events (2011). The recent announcement that Mike Mangini would be joining Dream Theater, replacing departed drummer Mike Portnoy caused such fanfare that Mangini was a trending topic on Twitter. That's impressive.
I haven't heard it yet obviously. From many of the comments, I'm pretty curious, but still not expecting my jaw to drop or anything. The comments online are comparing it to oldschool Dream Theater, Six Degrees, Falling Into Infinity and Awake. And I guess there is piano, audible bass guitar, and not any solos that over extend their welcome.
A Dramatic Turn of Events is an album born from transition, crafted with studied persistence and possessed by new-found freedom and free-flowing invigoration.
